The duties of the department of community development shall be as follows:

A. The development of, establishing the processes for, and the processing of building permits;

B. The establishment of the procedure for zoning classifications, and the submittal of staff reports through the planning commission and town council on zoning classification and/or rezones;

C. The establishment of the forms, processes for conditional use permits and the submittal of a staff recommendation on a conditional use permit to the planning commission and town council;

D. Overseeing the development and implementation of the town’s comprehensive land use plan and capital facilities plan, and the development and implementation of ordinances to carry out the foregoing plans and the zoning ordinance, critical areas ordinance and other mandates of the Growth Management Act;

E. The development of the six-year comprehensive street plan, and recommendations to the planning commission and town council on transportation including street improvements, signalization, and right-of-way locations;

F. The responsibility for the implementation and enforcement of Uniform Building Code, Uniform Fire Code, Uniform Plumbing Code, Uniform Mechanical Code, Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings and other such Uniform Codes as adopted by the town council;

G. Enforce compliance with all land use codes adopted by the town;

H. Make such other recommendations to the planning commission and town council on land use matters;

I. Attend planning commission meetings. [Ord. 233-A § 2, 1992.]
